Policies

Safeguarding

STEMForge Tuition teaches students of school age. We take our responsibility towards them seriously, and the practices below apply to every session we deliver.

Who teaches

All tuition is delivered by our named tutors, whose qualifications are published in full on this website. We do not subcontract lessons to unnamed third parties. Every tutor working with students under 18 is required to accept this policy in writing before teaching.

Parental consent and contact

A parent or guardian must arrange and consent to tuition for any student under 18. We communicate with the parent or guardian about scheduling, progress and payment. We do not enter into private one-to-one messaging with a student under 18 on personal social media, and any direct message to a student is kept to lesson logistics and is visible to their parent on request.

Online sessions

Online lessons take place on a scheduled video call arranged with the parent. A parent or guardian is welcome to be present, to observe any session, and to see the shared whiteboard or screen at any time. We do not record sessions involving a student under 18 unless the parent has asked us to and agreed it in writing. We do not ask a student to move the session to a different platform or account.

In-person sessions

Where we teach in a student’s home, an adult member of the household must be present in the property for the duration of the session. Doors to the room are kept open. We do not transport students in a vehicle under any circumstances.

Records

We keep a short written note of each session covering what was taught and what was set, and we make it available to the parent. Contact details and session notes are held as set out in our privacy notice.

Raising a concern

If a parent or student has a concern about the conduct of a session, contact us at help@stemforgetuition.co.uk and we will respond within 24 hours.

If we become concerned about a student’s welfare, we will raise it with their parent or guardian. Where we believe a child may be at risk of harm, we will report the concern to the relevant local authority children’s services or to the police, and we will not delay in doing so.

If you are worried about a child, the NSPCC helpline is available on 0808 800 5000, and in an emergency you should always call 999.

Academic integrity

Under the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022, it is a criminal offence in England to provide contract cheating services to students at post-16 institutions and higher education providers, and a separate offence to advertise them. Essay mills often present themselves as proofreading, tutorial or academic support services, so we say plainly what we do and do not do:

We teach, review and give feedback. We do not write, code or produce any part of work that a student submits for assessment, and we will decline any request to do so.

Privacy

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, student level, subject and message. This information is processed by Formspree, our third-party form provider, and forwarded to us by email. We use it only to respond to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to provide tuition.

Data collected: name, email address, phone number if given, and the subject and level of tuition requested, submitted through the contact form. For active students we additionally hold session notes and payment records.

Retention: enquiry data that does not become a booking is deleted after 12 months. Records for students we have taught are kept for 6 years, which is the standard period for business and tax records.

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how many people visit this website and which pages they read. It collects aggregate visitor data only. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not identify you individually. Because no cookies are set, this website does not display a cookie banner.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you.

We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. If you have a question about how we handle your data, or you want us to correct or delete information we hold about you, contact help@stemforgetuition.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
